Dear colleagues,

I would like to express my deep appreciation to all members and executives of the Korean Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association (KCPCA) for giving me the opportunity to serve as president, despite my many shortcomings.

We are currently facing an exceptionally challenging period, marked by unresolved significant issues between the government and medical associations. Despite this, we began the year with hopes of recovery and progress after enduring the unprecedented coronavirus pandemic for the last 3 years.

In the midst of these difficulties, the KCPCA successfully hosted the First Cadaver Live Surgery Symposium in June 2024. This event not only broadened the horizons for learning in the complex field of cranio-maxillofacial surgery but also offered valuable and practical knowledge on various surgical techniques for those new to plastic surgery. On behalf of the executive team, I extend deep appreciation to all attendees.

The KCPCA has published the Textbook of Facial–Trauma and Craniofacial Surgery, which provides protocols for craniomaxillofacial surgery in trauma cases. This publication addresses very serious conditions and serves as a crucial resource in the field.

The dedication and efforts of our members and executives have not only made the KCPCA well-known among the general medical societies in Korea but have also bolstered the pride our members take in their healthcare roles. Based on these achievements, we are evolving into a truly global organization. I would like to extend my gratitude once again to the editorial staff of the KCPCA.

The KCPCA has faced continuous challenges and competition from various sectors within the surgical field, including the general public and government entities. We are committed to providing valuable opportunities and a healthy environment for the collaborative growth and development of all our members. This commitment extends to enhancing the stature of our association, expanding our network of friendships, and sharing significant research findings and innovative ideas.

The active participation and attendance of all our members at conferences have made our association more attractive than before. Additionally, our association has gained prominence in the field where public demand for facial beauty is increasing.

The proverb states, “To go fast, go alone; to go far, go together.” We rely on and anticipate the active participation and support of all our members with sincere confidence.

We look forward to welcoming all our members to the KCPCA scientific meeting next spring. In the New Year, I wish you good health and prosperity in your practice. Thank you.
